My name is Steve King, and I'm running to be your next City Councilman.
My philosophy is simple: I believe that we have a responsibility to leave Livonia better than we found it—for our children and future generations. That means making smart, fiscally responsible decisions today that will strengthen our neighborhoods, support our schools, and ensure Livonia remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
As a lifelong resident, educator, school board reformer, and small business owner, I've seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing our city. I'm not a career politician—I'm a parent, a coach, and a problem-solver. I believe in transparency, accountability, fiscal responsibility and working together to find common-sense solutions.
This campaign isn't about politics. It's about protecting what makes Livonia special. I hope you'll join me in this effort as I humbly ask for your vote this November.

Steve's Key Issues:
Maintaining Existing Infrastructure
Our roads, sidewalks, water systems, and public buildings are the backbone of daily life, and maintaining them should be a top priority. As a council member, I would focus on repairing aging streets, upgrading outdated water lines, and ensuring public spaces like parks and libraries stay safe and usable. Rather than chasing flashy, new projects that strain the budget, we need to invest in the infrastructure we already rely on every day.
Keeping Government Transparent
Residents deserve to know how decisions are made and where their tax dollars go. I support open-door policies, accessible town hall meetings, and clear public records that are easy to access. I'll push for real community engagement—where residents can ask questions, get honest answers, and have a say in what happens in their neighborhoods.
Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility
City budgets aren’t unlimited, and every dollar should be spent wisely. I’ll advocate for regular independent audits, smarter long-term planning, and holding departments accountable for staying within budget. We should fund what works, cut what doesn’t, and always look for ways to deliver better services without asking taxpayers to pay more.
Supporting our Police and Fire
Public safety starts with well-equipped, well-trained police, fire, and emergency personnel. I’ll work to ensure our first responders have the tools and staffing they need to respond quickly and effectively. At the same time, I support ongoing community outreach and training to build trust between our safety departments and the people they serve.
Lowering Taxes & Cutting Red Tape
Too many residents and local businesses feel weighed down by high taxes and unnecessary bureaucracy. I’ll fight to reduce wasteful spending so we can keep property taxes in check. I’ll also push to simplify permitting processes and eliminate outdated rules that make it harder to get things done in our city.
Elevating Small Businesses
Local businesses are the heart of our economy and our neighborhoods. I want to create a city environment where small businesses can grow—by streamlining licenses, offering local incentives, and making sure city policies don’t favor large corporations or the same developers over homegrown entrepreneurs. When our small businesses thrive, so do our communities.
